Margot Martin was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but she grew up in Dallas, Texas. She studied dance with Pat and Tanju Tuzer at the Tuzer Dancenter and with Lisa Owen of New World Ballet before going to Pacific Northwest Ballet. She is a founding member of Carolina Ballet, joining the company in 1998 as a member of the corps de ballet.
