Melissa Podcasy is a founding member of Carolina Ballet.   She has been a principal dancer with Pennsylvania Ballet (under the direction of Robert Weiss) and Basel Ballet in Switzerland (under the direction of Heinz Spoerli). Ms. Podcasy has appeared as a guest artist with New York City Ballet; has danced nationally and internationally with "Stars of American Ballet;" and was invited to tour with "Principal Dancers of New York City Ballet" through Columbia Artists Management.

Due to her versatility, Ms. Podcasy has worked with and created roles for such choreographers as Christopher Wheeldon, William Forsythe, Damian Woetzel and Richard Tanner. She has collaborated with Robert Weiss and Lynne Taylor-Corbett throughout her career performing in over thirty of their creations. Ms. Podcasy's Balanchine repertoire consists of over twenty-five ballets. She has performed works by Jose Limon, Antony Tudor, Peter Martins and Jean Pierre Bonnefoux; and she has danced the principal ballerina roles in ten full length ballets including Giselle, John Cranko's Romeo and Juliet, Heinz Spoerli's La Fille Mal Gardée, Peter Martin's La Sylphide and Robert Weiss' Winter Dreams.

Television credits for Melissa Podcasy include The Sylph ( La Sylphide ) for PBS "Dance in America;" Giselle for Romanian national television; "Homage to Switzerland" for Swiss television; and six productions for UNC-TV statewide PBS broadcast.
