Sean Armstrong began his training at the age of 10 at the Classical Ballet Center under the tutelage of Terry Ellen-Shields, in his home town of Summerville, South Carolina. At the age of 14 he was accepted into the North Carolina School of the Arts, where he continued his training for his freshman and sophomore years of high school. After attending the Houston Ballet Academy's summer intensive for two summers, he was offered a full scholarship to attend their year-round program. In 2007 after spending three years at the Houston Ballet Academy, Mr. Armstrong returned to South Carolina to dance for Columbia City ballet, where he performed the roles of Ebenezer Scrooge in their production of Scrooge, and the Friday's Child Pas de Trois in their Beauty and the Beast. The following year, he joined Carolina Ballet as an apprentice, and was promoted to Corps de Ballet in 2009.
