Mendelssohn Octet
Originally choreographed for the Pennsylvania Ballet, Mendelssohn Octet has been re-imagined by Artistic Director Robert Weiss specifically for Carolina Ballet. The ballet's premise is a group of dancers in a sunlit glade swept up by the wind and the music, sometimes dancing together, sometimes alone, and sometimes in small groups. Mr. Weiss likes to imagine that we are only experiencing the part of the dance that comes into our view, but that the dancers who are off stage continue in perpetual motion out of our sight. The artistry of the dancers combined with grace, beauty, and spirit will make this premiere a repertory favorite.
