2008 Audition Tour

Students from the ages of 13 to 21 may audition during our National Audition Tour (11-21 in Raleigh and Wilmington). We strongly recommend attending one of the auditions, but will also accept videotaped auditions for students unable to attend during our tour.

*Auditions for day students will be held in Wilmington and Raleigh. Students age 11-13 who do not live in the Wilmington or Raleigh areas but wish to attend Day Program session B or C should audition by video. The Wilmington area offers numerous choices for summer accommodations.

• $20 non-refundable master class audition fee (cash only)

• Pointe shoes required for women.

• Women please wear pink-footed tights and black leotards.

• Men please wear black tights and a white T-shirt to the audition.

• All auditioning students must bring a 4x6 full body photo in first arabesque.

Registration for master classes begins 30 minutes prior to the start of each class.
There is no pre-registration for auditions. All participants must register on-site during the registration time.
All students will receive notification of the results by mail 2-3 weeks after their audition.
Please wait three weeks before inquiring about audition results.

Please note that manual adjustment of a student's body to correct alignment and technique is a standard practice. If this is not acceptable, please Do Not audition.

Each student must meet the qualifying age for his or her session by the first day of the program. We welcome students of any race, religion, color, national origin, or creed.

Audition Video
Audition videos must be postmarked between January 2 and March 1, 2008. There is a $20 video audition fee. Please make the check payable to Carolina Ballet, and mail check, application form, and video to:

Video Guidelines
Total Length should be 5 to 10 minutes.
In practice clothes, please show the following according to level of training and technical ability:

· In the center
· Adagio
· Pirouettes en dedans and en dehors
· Petite allegro
· Grand allegro

Photos
Students must also supply two 4x6 photos.
· Headshot
· First arabesque

Pointe work
· Échappé combination
· Turns executed on diagonal
· Consecutive relevés on two feet and/or one foot
· Variation (optional)
· Barre work (optional)

Men
· tour en l'air
· entrechat

Please label both the videotape and its case with your name, address, phone number and age. Include the completed video application form with $20.00 personal check.
