Sokvannara Sar is from Cambodia. He was a professional Cambodian traditional dancer since the age of 12. Began Western ballet training at age 16 at the School of American ballet, year 2000. Joined Pacific Northwest Ballet Company in 2006, and participated in a world ballet competition in Varna, Bulgaria, the same year. Made it to the semifinals. Sokvannara has also danced with Suzanne Farrell Ballet, appeared as a guest artist with Saint Louis Ballet, Vail International Dance Festival, Dance Salads Festival, and many more. Sokvannara is the subject of a documentary film Dancing Across Borders which showed in theaters throughout the United States, and abroad. It’s still available today on Amazon’s Prime. Favorite roles: Prodigal Son, Oberon, Frankenstein, and Romeo.
