Amanda Babayan grew up in Hamilton, New Jersey and started dancing at age 3 at Stewart Johnson Dance Academy, a local competition studio. There she studied tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop and even acrobatics under the direction of Isobel Johnson and Kimberly Spolitino. At age fourteen she began training in ballet at Ballet Technique, another local studio in Hamilton, under the direction of Julie A. Caprio. Amanda attended American Ballet Theatre's summer program two years in a row: the first year in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and the second in New York City. After that she attended Miami City Ballet School's (MCBS) summer program three years in a row. In the summer of 2011, at age 16, she was offered the opportunity to attended MCBS for their year round program in the pre professional division. She attended MCBS for two years, performing in all of MCBS’s student showcases and outreach performances. In the summer of 2013 Amanda attended Carolina Ballet's summer program and was offered a position to become a Trainee.
