From: Havana Cuba
Christian Gutierrez was born in Habana, Cuba. He started his ballet training in 2006 at the Nationale Ballet School of Habana, where he received training in the Cuban technique with classical repertoire. He graduated in 2013 and joined the Nationale Ballet of Camaguey, touring Cuba. From there he danced as a principal dancer in the Laura Alonso Company; Pro Danza where he danced in the Ballets Dracula, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, as well as contemporary works from the choreographer Hector Figueredo. Christian also toured throughout Mexico before coming to the United States where he danced freelance and competed in multiple competitions including Universal Ballet Competition and Youth America Grand Prix, placing 1st in pas de deux & 2nd in an ensemble at the NYC finals 2017 as a student of The Rock School for Dance Education. There he performed numerous leading roles including Cavalier & Snow Pas De Deux Prince. Christian looks forward to continuing his career with Carolina Ballet as a Corps de ballet member in 2017.
