Laurie grew up in Stow, Ohio and Toronto, Ontario. She began studying ballet at the age of 2 at Excellence in Dance-Nan Klinger in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Laurie was a member of the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet (CVYB) from 2003-2005. In 2005, she was part of the CVYB cast who performed Madeline at the Circus on Broadway. She was also a guest dancer with the New York City Ballet in 2005 for their summer performances of A Midsummer’s Night Dream. While living in Toronto, Laurie studied at the Stepanova Ballet Academy from 2006-2013. As student of Stepanova Ballet Academy, she performed lead roles in ballets such as Pinocchio, Thumbelina, Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, and Fairy Doll. Laurie has also danced for 4 years with Toronto International Ballet Theatre in their annual performance of The Nutcracker, most recently performing the role of ‘Sugar Plum.’
Laurie spent four summers with the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive, and one summer with the Chautauqua Institution. In 2011, Laurie received a full scholarship through the U.S. State Department for the NSLI-Y Russian Language and Cultural Exchange at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow, Russia. Following this program, she was invited to attend the Bolshoi Ballet Academy as a full time student. Laurie was invited to perform in the Academy’s Spring Showcase in the Spring of 2012. Recently, Laurie was cast in an American Girl movie to be released in the Spring of 2014.
