Carolina Ballet presents a very traditional Nutcracker that Robert Weiss originally choreographed in 2001 to Tchaikovsky’s majestic score. Ten years later in 2011, however, Weiss introduced grand illusions, conceived by one of the top magicians working today, into the Act I Party Scene. Children disappear and reappear, Herr Dorosselmeyer enters in a cloud of smoke from the grandfather clock, and an angel levitates to light the Christmas tree. With all new sets, Carolina Ballets’ Nutcracker is more magnificent than ever and truly a magical production. There are 64 Triangle area children in each cast for Nutcracker.
