This season, we’re celebrating the many facets of acclaimed contemporary choreographer George Balanchine, in this commemorative show featuring Rubies. Robert Weiss witnessed the genius of George Balanchine as he choreographed Rubies live in 1966—an experience that launched his love affair with the ballets of Balanchine. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” he said. “Here was something really new; a totally classical ballet that really incorporated jazz in a seamless manner.” Don’t miss the chance to see Carolina Ballet’s dancers sparkle in this special homage to Balanchine and his most influential art. Also included will be The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Rondo alla Zingarese, À la Françaix and Raymonda Variations.
