Washington Irving’s bone-chilling tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, recounts Ichabod Crane and his doomed courtship with Katrina Van Tassel. After a party at the Van Tassel home ends in heartbreak, Ichabod heads for home in the dark. As he passes a church the citizens of Sleepy Hollow believe is haunted, he comes “face to face” with the terrifying specter of the Headless Horseman. At daybreak, Ichabod is gone, and the only thing the citizens can find is his tri-corner hat. Choreographer in Residence Zalman Raffael brings this macabre tale to the stage with a new ballet that has the right mix of fright and delight for fans of the supernatural, both young and old.
